今日のIT英語 Lesson9「What Is an Interface?」
今回も前回に引き続き、「Oracle」の「Java tutorial」を読み解きながら、インターフェースって何？ということを英語で説明できるようになりましょう。
objects define their interaction with the outside world through the methods that they expose.
オブジェクトは外部からアクセスできるメソッドを通じて、互いに利用しあいます。
Methods form the object’s interface with the outside world; the buttons on the front of your television set, for example, are the interface between you and the electrical wiring on the other side of its plastic casing.
メソッドはオブジェクトの外部とのインターフェースです。例えばテレビのボタンを考えて見ましょう。テレビのボタンは電気配線とテレビを見るあなたの間にあるプラスティックのインターフェースです。
You press the “power” button to turn the television on and off.
パワーボタンを押すことでテレビの電源をONにしたりOFFにすることができます。
この例だといまいちインターフェースがわかりづらいですね。
”電源ボタンを押す”という作業自体はあくまでインターフェースで、その作業を行うことでテレビオブジェクトの内部の電源をONにする、OFFにする、という処理を行うよう定義することができます。
このように、インターフェースの処理を記述することを、インターフェースの「実装」と言います。
